Little donations add up to BIG miracles

Donating to the WMFC is easy! Various household items might be very useful - bins, cable ties, pet cleaning supplies, buckets. Also small animal items might be of use - shampoos, bedding, toys, plastic tubes, puppy pee pads, etc. Also vet care donations for melatonin implants and general care (donations can be sent to Coit Animal Clinic, 1958 Coit NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505, phone 616/363-5530). And Gift certificates to gas stations. Gas is expensive! I go to Speedway with my Speedy Rewards card. If you think you have something that might help, please contact the WMFC today!

Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of ALL shelters

Ferrets are very energetic, and each one requires a lot of care. Not only attention, but the general tasks it takes to properly care for a ferret. Running a ferret shelter is very time consuming, and all help is greatly appreciated.
Here are some ways you can help:

  • Picking up toys
  • Refilling dishes & water bottles
  • Cleaning litter boxes
  • Sweeping
  • Washing shelter floor
  • Replacing beddings in cages
  • Washing & drying laundry
  • Folding and putting clean bedding away

Hospice Program

The West Michigan Ferret Connection often receives offers from people wanting to foster. Generally, all they want is a free ferret. I can’t do that.

Hospice parents give 24/7 care to those ferrets which have health or behavioral issues making them unsuitable for placement. Our hospice parents give quality time , transportation to vets, sometimes even cover medical expenses beyond the shelters capabilities. They are all appreciated and should be highly commended for their service.

Hospice Parents need to be ferret knowledgeable and definitely committed to giving a shelter ferret quality time and the ability to cover medical expenses beyond this shelter’s capabilities.

Hospice Parents receive NO pay, benefits, or compensation of any kind from the WMFC. Hospice Parents are the least recognized in the volunteer roster here. They are all appreciated and highly commended for their service.
